The Qwest Center may be getting a large neighbor to the North if the city of Omaha approves a new building plan to construct a baseball stadium. The baseball stadium is being hotly debated in Omaha as the city of Omaha and the NCAA work out if the College World Series will stay in the city its taken place in for 58 years. The city proposed the plan to the NCAA in hopes of keeping the College World Series in town for another 10 years.
According to the Omaha World Herald, the new stadium was originally proposed to be around 15th and Cuming Street but the newest proposal puts the stadium in parking lot D of the Qwest Center. This has raised questions about parking for the Qwest Center and for the new stadium.
When asked about the parking situation Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey said "We don't want to do anything that jeopardizes the smooth operations of the Qwest Center."
