One of the biggest sports events to happen at the Qwest Center Omaha happened last night as the underrated Creighton Bluejays played the #22 Drake Bulldogs. It was a game that would prove who the better team was as well as who would likely win the Missouri Valley Conference altogether, because both teams where #1 and #2 in the conference.
It was a hard fought battle between Creighton and Drake all night and was a close match up until the 54 tie at the end of the game that sent both teams into overtime. Unfortunately for the majority of Creighton basketball ticket holders, the game took a turn for the worse with Duke outscoring the Bluejays 14-6 in overtime. The final score was 68-60 with Drake beating the Creighton Bluejays.
Drake's standout Sophomore Josh Young returned after missing three games with a sprained ankle. But it was Klayton Korver who the Bluejays should have been focusing on. Klayton, who's brother Caleb plays for Creighton, had a career night and will have bragging rights for a week.
Creighton and Caleb Korver will have a chance to prove the Bulldogs wrong next week. Next Wednesday the Creighton basketball team will travel to Drake to rematch.
Catch the Bluejays in basketball action in Chicago this Saturday on TV or in person for the Southern Illinois game.
